MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND CHU-MEL
Swiss Medical Initiative mobilized their donors to support a project and provide supplies of hydroalcoholic gel (300 bottles of 125ml) for the technical staff of the Ministry of Health, all the medical staff of the University Hospital Center and for all 625 employees working at Mother – Child Lagune (CHU-MEL) of Cotonou.
The “Clean Care is Safer Care” program was introduced by the WHO over 20 years ago. This program aims at promoting systematic hand washing with soap or a hydroalcoholic gel among all medical, administrative and maintenance staff.
Developed in Switzerland by Professor Didier Pittet at the University Hospital of Geneva, this program has helped prevent millions of nosocomial infections around the world.
In addition to other precautionary measures like wearing face masks and social distancing, this preventive measure is essential to protect the workers of all hospital and medical teams, especially hospitalized patients from Covid-19 spreading.
Swiss Medical Initiative (SMI) and the Beninese Community in Switzerland (CBS) joined forces to support hydroalcoholic gel supply delivery.
